Master Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology: Applied Research and Training Semester

Master students must complete an Applied Research and Training Semester during their third semester.

Students work for a minimum of 22 weeks at a company or research institute in Austria or abroad. The internship involves participating in an in-house project and documenting project-related activities in line with standard academic practice. Depending on their personal preferences, interns can choose to focus on a research-oriented or more practical topic.

The Master thesis is written outside the students’ working time during the Applied Research and Training Semester. This structure aims to encourage students to reflect on and develop the knowledge base built up during the bachelor’s degree and the first year of the master’s programme.

The research and training semester can be completed at any of the following institutions:

  • Research institutes in Austria or abroad
  • Austrian or foreign companies
