Study content of African languages and cultures

The Masters degree in African Studies focuses on different aspects of African language and culture, thereby combining social sciences with the classical humanities. You will dig into both the continent’s long history and its often troublesome presence. What is most interesting about your Masters degree in African studies is the high variety and depths it offers you. Thus, you will learn about diverse regional cultures and religions in this amazing continent.

The Masters degree usually builds upon previous regional studies of the kind. Within your postgraduate studies with a focus on Africa, you will gain the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and concentrate on your very own field of expertise. Potential fields for specialisation and individualisation of your Masters studies lie in Philosophy, African languages, Literature Studies, Fine Arts or even Political Science.

As a precondition for your application, you will need a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in the Humanities or Social Sciences, preferably in Regional Studies. Moreover, the Masters degrees will utilise both English and French literature; hence, language proficiency in both is mandatory.
