In keeping with the traditions of French Engineering schools (grandes écoles d'ingénieurs), Centrale Nantes, founded in 1919, trains versatile engineers to a very high scientific and technical level. Equipped with a strong managerial culture, they are capable of placing scientific subjects into a global context incorporating environmental and societal issues.

Student Life

Nantes is the 6th largest city in France with a population of more than 300 000 people. Nantes is the economic and cultural capital of the west of France. It was elected European Capital of Innovation in 2019. For more information about the city, please check out the Nantes Tourist Office.
 

Nantes is very attractive for students, in fact more than 10% of the city's population are students and 45% of the population is under 30 years old. People are attracted to Nantes due the quality of life the city offers, but also for its job opportunities. Nantes is home to major industrial companies in aeronautics and ship manufacturing and more than 100 start-ups are created in the city every year.
 

Finally, if you want to escape the urban environment, the city has a lot of parks and many Nantais & Nantaises enjoy walking along the river banks. If you are looking for a more 'salty' atmosphere, the ocean is just a 40 minute drive away! During your visit to Nantes, do not forget to ride our local pride: a wooden mechanical elephant.

Admission

Marine technology, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, automatic control and robotics, city and urban environment, industrial engineering - Centrale Nantes proposes 6 master's (15 specialisms) and 4 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, a guarantee of academic excellence.
 

All of our masters programmes are taught in English.

Who is eligible to apply?
 

• International students with a bachelor's degree (Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Technology) or equivalent, in a field related to Science and Technology
• French and European students with a 'license' qualification or equivalent.
• Students must have graduated from the above before the end of August in order to enrol in a Master's Programme at Centrale Nantes in September.
• Applicants must have a good level in Mathematics and be fluent in English - written and spoken. An applicant whose native language is not English is required to pass a recognised international test of English:
  • TOEFL - IBT 80, or PBT 550, paper-delivered test 60,
  • Cambridge Advanced English Test - B or higher,
  • IELTS - 6.5 or higher,
  • TOEIC - 800 or higher.
