About the City

An economy of 7 million people, the Hong Kong is a special administrative region and part of mainland China, a country of 1.3 billion people. So-called the Asia’s World City, Hong Kong has 50 – 60 million visitors annually, thanks to being a natural, vital and multicultural gateway to China and the rest of Asia. As an intensely competitive city, you can find the best of everything, the diversity ranged from street food to fine dinner, tranquil monasteries and greenery to glamourous skylines, and local cultures and rituals to international entertainment and sports events.

Challenges and Opportunities

Like other leading global city with high urban density, Hong Kong faces many challenges brought about by unprecedented rates of urbanization, ageing population, economic shift, climate and resources scarcity and technological breakthroughs.

The government of Hong Kong carried out strategic planning of the city as a result. This includes Hong Kong 2030+ led by Development Bureau and Planning Department and Smart Hong Kong initiative led by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer.

Talents Wanted: Immigration Policy for Non-local Graduates

Correspondingly, in order to prepare Hong Kong for the transformation ahead, a welcoming immigration policy is in place to offer flexibility to non-local graduates who wish to work in Hong Kong after their graduation. Under the IANG Scheme, fresh graduates will normally be granted a stay of 12 months without any condition upon application.
