Behavioural Science at Radboud University

The Master's programme in Behavioural Science gives you the theoretical and methodological background to current issues in the field and allows you to engage and reflect on the various ways that behaviour can be influenced.
 

You will also get substantial experience with hands-on research and conduct minor and major research project on different topics.
 

This programme promotes a multidisciplinary approach, so students are free to choose courses and research topics to create their own unique programme.


What will you learn?
 

  • Get a strong theoretical underpinning in the core subjects of behavioural science.
  • Gain a solid practical training in research skills, and a thorough training in advanced quantitative data analysis.

Career

This programme prepares graduates for a career in research. Graduates could find positions in a number of different settings:
   
Scientific research career (academia)
The programme provides an excellent basis for a scientific research career and about three-quarters of our graduates have gone on to PhD positions.
    
Societal research career
Our graduates have also gone on to do research for governmental organisations, research institutes such as Kentalis and Praktikon or research departments within organisations such as TNO and Cito.
    
Scientific practitioner
In certain situations, it is possible to follow an additional Master’s programme like Psychology or Educational Science (in Dutch Pedagogiek) and/or do a clinical internship in order to get the necessary Dutch diagnostic certification.
    
More
Students with a Research Master’s degree are also highly sought after by (commercial) businesses and organisations because of their analytical skills, statistical knowledge and in-depth understanding of human behaviour. Other careers, such as policy maker, manager, journalist, etc. are certainly within reach.

Admission

1. A completed Bachelor's degree in Behavioural Science or related area

In order to get admission to this Master's you will need a completed Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Pedagogy, Educational Science, Biology, Artificial Intelligence, Communication Science or another related discipline.


2. Proficiency in English

In order to take part in this programme, you need to have fluency in both written and spoken English. Non-native speakers of English* without a Dutch Bachelor's degree or VWO diploma need one of the following:

    A TOEFL score of ≥600 (paper based) or ≥100(internet based)
    A IELTS score of ≥7.0 (test score of 7 overall with a 6.5 minimum for each test result: listening, reading, writing and speaking)
    Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) with a mark of C or higher


3. Motivation letter

In this letter of motivation you should explain why you want to follow this programme and why you think you are suited for it.


4. Reference letters

Applicants will need to send in two letters of recommendation by lectures or supervisors (including contact details).


5. Resume that includes a photo

Please upload your resume in the online application system Osiris as an additional document.


* Applicants are considered to be a native speaker of English if they are from Australia, Canada (with exception of Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, USA or South Africa.
