Business Administration at the University of Groningen

 

Would you like to gain the knowledge and skills required to deal with complex problems in management? Then you should choose one of the profiles of this degree.
 

In the Master's Degree in Business Administration, you learn to deal with complex management issues. There are five profiles that all focus on one particular area of business administration:

  •     Change Management
  •     Health
  •     Management Accounting and Control
  •     Small Business & Entrepreneurship
  •     Strategic Innovation Management

 

The programme is intended for students with an academic background in Business, Economics, and related academic fields.

Each profile has high academic standards and is research-oriented. Therefore, all your lecturers are researchers. You will work intensively in small groups. Occasionally, a guest lecturer from a company is invited to speak about their expert experiences in the world of business administration.

All profiles are internationally orientated.

As a graduate, you are qualified to work in national and international companies, non-profit organisations, and government institutions. Because all our programmes are EQUIS and AACSB accredited, the degrees are highly valued on the labour market.


• Change Management job examples: 
o Management trainee
o Internal consultant
o Policy consultant
o Member of a project team in profit as well as non-profit organizations


• Health 
As a graduate of MSc BA Health, you will have the academic skills crucial in analysing and intervening in the organisation of care and issuing advice about its economic environment.
Future employment opportunities may include (inter)national healthcare organisations, consultancy agencies, insurance companies, or (semi-)governmental organisations.


• Management Accounting and Control job examples:
o Assistant manager/management trainee, project manager, eventually leading to general manager
o Financial officer, internal control officer or related controller positions, eventually leading to financial manager
o Junior organization advisor in the field of quality management, financial management or change processes in organizations


• Small Business and Entrepreneurship job examples:
o All-round SME manager
o Independent entrepreneur
o SME Consultant
o Employee of a large organization selling services to SMEs (for example banks, accountancy offices, etc.)
o Employee of a large organization recruiting staff with an entrepreneurial attitude


• Strategic Innovation Management 
As the programme focuses on a field which is of growing importance across industries internationally, you can choose between many different career paths. The programme is the ideal choice when you are interested in a career in strategic or innovation management, business development, or in consultancy.

Business Administration at the University of Groningen

 

To be eligible for admission to this Master, you need to hold an academic Bachelor's or Master's degree from a research university in one of the following - or closely related - fields: Business Economics, Business Administration, Econometrics and Operations Research, Economics and Business Economics, International Business, Technology Management.

A GMAT/GRE test is required from all candidates who obtained their bachelor's degree from a university in a non-EU/EEA country. For specific scores and exemptions, please see https://www.rug.nl/feb/gmat-gre.


To prove your English proficiency, the following certificates are recognized: IELTS Academic overall score 6.5 (Speaking 6, Writing 6.5); TOEFL internet-based overall score 90 (Speaking 20, Writing 24); C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency (with minimum score 180).

The application deadline for starting on 1 September is 1 May of the same year. The application deadline for starting 1 February is 15 October of the previous year.
