Excellence in Analytical Chemistry at University of Tartu

The programme is taught by a consortium of 4 universities:
 

  • University of Tartu, Estonia;
  • Uppsala University, Sweden;
  • University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France;
  • Åbo Akademi University, Finland.

 

The students spend their first year at the University of Tartu, while the second year is spent either at UCBL, UU or AAU. The selection of the second year study location is determined through a competitive process based on the student's preference and the first semester’s academic performance.

  • General Analytical Chemistry Module (21 ECTS)
  • Metrology and Quality Management Module (9 ECTS)
  • Socio-economical Module (12 ECTS)
  • Training Placement (6 ECTS)
  • Elective Module (9 ECTS)

 

YEAR 2 (60 ECTS)

  • University Claude Bernard Lyon 1:
  • Industrial Analysis (25 ECTS)
  • French Language (5 ECTS)

 

Uppsala University:

  • Advanced Mass Spectrometry (10 ECTS)
  • Applied Chemical Analysis of Complex Samples (15 ECTS)
  • Swedish Language (5 ECTS)

 

Åbo Akademi:

  • Applied Electrochemistry (5 ECTS)
  • Chemical Sensors (5 ECTS)
  • Seminars in Analytical Chemistry (5 ECTS)
  • Special Project in Analytical Chemistry (10 ECTS)Swedish Language (5 ECTS)

 

All second year universities

  • Master’s Thesis (together with Winter School) (30 ECTS)
  • INTERNSHIP

 

EACH has made it easy for students to find an internship position by offering them a chance to choose a company or laboratory participating in EACH as associated partners.

Excellence in Analytical Chemistry at University of Tartu: Career

Evidence suggests that a growing number of employers are looking for analytical chemists qualified to work with modern instruments and to solve problems ranging from determining the composition of hi-tech materials and trace levels of toxicants to unraveling the mysteries of life and forensic analysis. Graduates are welcome to work in both private and public sector:

Excellence in Analytical Chemistry at University of Tartu: Admission

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) encompassing at least 60 ECTS in chemistry or chemical engineering and 20 ECTS in mathematics and/or physics  (minimum eligibility requirement for application is 66% of the maximum grade available, as the average of all courses included in the transcript).
  • English language requirements (see below)
  • The motivation letter
  • Online calculation test
