What is a Mechatronics Engineer?

The combination of mechanics, electronics and software is used in everything from robots to refrigerators. With a master degree in Mechatronics you could, for example, make smaller and faster information technology products or create energy saving products. Your thorough knowledge and understanding of Mechatronics enables you to create innovative technological solutions to everyday challenges. As a master student you can specialise in four areas: Nanotechnology, Embedded Control Systems, Dynamic Mechatronic Systems and Thermal Energy Systems. Learn more from the students themselves.

Programme structure

This is a two-year master programme. To study a master degree in Mechatronics you must have a relevant bachelor degree (three years of previous study at university level).

With a master degree in Mechatronics you are qualified for jobs as, for example:

  • Development engineer, e.g. with managerial responsibility

  • The mechatronics engineer is the octopus who as a project manager will be able to keep several balls in the air simultaneously. The study programme is in line with the general development of society as well as with the direction where the LEGO Group is heading.

Entry requirements

  1. A bachelor's degree in Electronic, Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering.
    Applicants with a similar bachelor’s degree if their academic qualifications correspond with the bachelor degrees mentioned above.
    Additional requirements may apply for the different profiles of the masters programme.
