Master in Media Innovation at Breda University of Applied Sciences

This master’s programme has a multidisciplinary perspective. You will learn how to look beyond the surface of digital media and distinguish crucial digital processes. You will learn how to transform these analytical insights into the building blocks that are needed to construct tomorrow’s media products. During this programme, you will work on several industry cases, creating and delivering unique concepts for different companies.

The programme lasts one year. For your graduation project, you will conceive an original media innovation which you will actually bring into the market. The staff members have close relations with the industry, which offers you the possibility to get in touch with investors or stakeholders who may help you bring your innovative concept to reality. This master’s programme is the first government-funded and accredited professional master’s programme in the field of media in the Netherlands. The statutory tuition fee for students from the EEA is only €2,060.

Master in Media Innovation at Breda University of Applied Sciences: Curriculum

To feed the industry cases, which are a common thread in the programme, the master's programme in Media Innovation conprises four themes:

Media theory (Keywords: remediation, semiotics, narratology, media philosophy, transmedia storytelling and branded entertainment)

Business models (Keywords: business strategy and models, business innovation, consumer theory, intellectual property law and entrepreneurship)

Media technology (Keywords: human-computer interaction and interface, user experience,
emerging technologies and rapid prototyping)

Research & communication studies (Keywords: research methodology, media psychology, media typology, media uses, advertising developments and media effects)

The four themes will be followed by a fi nal graduation project in which it’s possible to develop an entirely new media concept or to bring in and develop an existing concept.

Master in Media Innovation at Breda University of Applied Sciences: Admission Requirements

If you want to apply for this master's programme, you should have a bachelor's degree in the field of Business Administratoin, Media Studies, Communication Studies, ICT, or another media-related field. Suitable candidates have analytical skills, are creative, innovative and resourceful, are able to create something out of nothing. As a non-native speaker, you need to be able to demonstrate your profiency in English. Eligible candidates will be invited for an interview.
