Master Next Level Engineering at HU Utrecht

Are you an Engineering Bachelor student looking for a challenging one-year Master programme focused on Data Science, Complexity Science and Systems Engineering? Then our Next Level Engineering (NLE) programme is for you! You will work in projects and learning teams with fellow highly-motivated students; learning with and from each other.


HU's NLE programme centers around four themes: Energy Technology & Sustainability, Rapid Prototyping, Health Technology and Asset Management. You will also work on your communication skills, conduct research, and study math and statistics.

Master Next Level Engineering at HU Utrecht: Course Content

The programme is both meant to strengthen your engineering know-how and stretches your analytical skills. You will find that some of the courses meet your previous skills and knowledge more than others. Therefore, we expect you to assist your fellow students on subjects that are new to them, and you will benefit from their knowledge and experience in return. In the first three blocks you prepare for your thesis phase, which takes place in the final block.

Master Next Level Engineering at HU Utrecht: Admission

The Next Level Engineering programme is designed for ambitious Bachelors from several backgrounds: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering & Management.


English language skills:
All potential foreign students need to follow the admission procedure and prove their English skills at TOEFL level 80 (writing skills) / 20 (oral skills) or IELTS 6.0.
