Master Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Newcastle University Business School

Our Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc provides in-depth knowledge of the major areas and philosophy that underpin operations and supply chain. It shows how an integrated approach to operations and supply chain management can impact on businesses.

Organisations are constantly evaluating ways to reduce costs, shorten production and distribution times, and better manage risk in order to develop and maintain a competitive advantage.

On completion of this course you will be able to apply the knowledge you have learned in a thorough, systematic, informed and creative way in order to advance the effectiveness and competitiveness of organisations. The course provides you with the knowledge and understanding how an integrated approach to operations and supply chain management can impact on business performance. Each year an industry visit is arranged for this course and guest speakers from industry are invited to share their experiences and insights with you.

This course develops your critical skills which will help you to evaluate, synthesise and apply theories and concepts in operations and supply chain management. You apply these skills to a range of complex, open ended problems, demonstrating your understanding of theory and in the future to shaping organisational performance. Our teaching covers topics in a national and international context.

The course shapes your understanding of quantitative analysis approaches in logistics and supply chain management; how the mainstream supply chain information systems work; and how information technology can improve the efficiency of supply chain management

Your development
On completion of this course you will be able to
 

  • critically evaluate, synthesise and apply theories and concepts in operations and supply chain in a national and international context
  • demonstrate analytical and evaluative skills in the application of operations and supply chain theory and concepts to conduct independent research
  • learn independently and inter-dependently and use reflective skills to enable you to become a lifelong learner and capable problem solver in a business environment
  • critically apply relevant theory and concepts to a range of complex, open ended problems, and use a full range of transferable professional skills
  • provide technical, commercial and managerial leadership communicate effectively and possess good interpersonal skills

Master Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Newcastle University Business School: Admission

This course is suited to those who wish to pursue a career in either operations or general management including: operations, distribution and supply chain management; consultancy; logistics and transport management; engineering, purchasing or quality management; manufacturing management; or management accounting.

Academic requirements: For entry onto this Master’s course, you should hold a minimum upper-second-class Honours (2:1) Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent.

English language: IELTS 6.5 overall score with no sub skill below 6.0.
