Masters Programme and Project Management at WMG, University of Warwick

Those who wish to move into project management, either in their current technical and business field, or into a new field of expertise. Participants on this course can have a very wide range of academic and work backgrounds. It is suitable for those with work experience as well as those with little or no background in business.

 

We will provide you with

 

The methodologies, tools, principles, and philosophies of successful project management.
You will learn about human resource management in projects and programmes as well as risk management and change management. You will also develop a methodical approach to the management of the financial aspects of projects and programmes.

Modules: Masters Programme and Project Management at WMG, University of Warwick

The course is modular - each student takes a combination of core and elective modules. 9 modules are studied and assessed in total. Modules consist of nominally 40 hours directed tuition in the form of lectures, seminars, group work, presentations, case studies and e-learning. This is covered in a full-emersion, intensive week.


Modules are assessed by Post Module Assignment - this is typically a further 40 -60 hours of work.

Elective Modules

 

Your choice of elective modules allows you to extend the coverage of the core topics into areas of particular interest to you. Good choices might be a specific area relevant to your project or future career plans. For Programme and Project Management you can choose two modules from the list of elective modules on the website. The full course website offers a list of suggested elective modules.

 

The taught modules account for 50% of the Master's degree. A major individual research project, submitted in the form of a dissertation accounts for the other 50%. This should take approximately 900 hours of study time. An oral examination is held upon completion.

Admission: Masters Programme and Project Management at WMG, University of Warwick

Students wishing to study the MSc in Programme and Project Management should have obtained at least the equivalent of a UK second class honours degree. Students from a wide variety of backgrounds will be considered for entry onto the MSc but ability in numeracy is important.

 

To make an application to a WMG Masters courses, applications must be made online at www.warwick.ac.uk/go/wmgmasters/entry.

 

You can apply now, even if you do not yet have all the necessary documents ready; if necessary we will make you a conditional offer until you provide them.

 

You will need to provide:

 

  • A completed application form & application fee.
  • A Personal Statement, which can be included in the online application.
  • A transcript of marks awarded so far (if you are currently studying) OR a final transcript / degree certificate* (if you have completed your studies).
  • English test result (if applicable)
  • One reference. If you completed studies less than 2 years ago, this should be an academic reference.

Funding Opportunities

At WMG, we will be awarding over £750,000 in scholarships and bursaries to students commencing study on our full-time MSc programmes in October 2019.

 

WMG Excellence Scholarship


WMG Excellence Scholarships are available on a competitive basis. These scholarships will award students between 25% - 50% tuition fee discount.

 

Awards will be based on past academic achievement, professional experience, extracurricular activities, reasons for study, and your vision for the future. Students are required to complete a scholarship application in order to be considered for the WMG Excellence Scholarships. Applications will close in April 2019.
