Master Quantitative Finance and Risk Management at Newcastle University Business School

Our Quantitative Finance and Risk Management MSc provides you with the opportunity to develop a sound understanding of generalist finance issues, combined with specialist practical skills in quantitative methodology and risk management.

This course advances your understanding of the role of finance in a modern economy and of the operation and behaviour of financial markets and investors.

It will enable you to develop a career in the financial services sector, or as a quantitative analyst in investment banking and risk management fields.

Worldwide growth in the financial services sector has fuelled the demand for graduates with a sound understanding of finance issues, combined with specialist skills in quantitative methodology and risk management.

The course builds on the School’s established strengths in economics and finance, and provides opportunities for you to develop relevant skills and a practical understanding of:
 

  • the behaviour of international financial markets
  • the ability to analyse the strategies of financial market investors

Master Quantitative Finance and Risk Management at Newcastle University Business School: Admission

This course is suited to those wanting to develop a career in the broad financial services sector, but is particularly relevant to those interested in pursuing a career as a quantitative analyst in the investment banking and risk management fields.  

Academic requirements: For entry onto this Master’s course, you should hold a minimum upper-second-class Honours (2:1) Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent.

You also need to demonstrate a firm grasp of basic calculus, probability theory and statistical inference. If this is not clearly evident from your transcripts, please use your personal statement to give details of your mathematical knowledge.

English language: IELTS 6.5 overall score with no sub skill below 6.0.
