Subjects in the Masters programme Romance Languages

Within the Master of Romance Languages you can choose between the main “areas” of French, Italian and Spanish languages. You can also study several sub-languages such as Catalan and Portuguese in Spanish, and Francophone in French programmes. In some universities and colleges you can combine all of them and follow a more general, less specialised approach.

You will have subjects such as history, philosophy, psychoanalysis, film studies, gender studies, literary theory, literary history, and philology. In most cases, you can also take an additional course in education and specialise for a career in teaching.

In order to be admitted for this postgraduate course you need to have a completed Bachelors degree in subject related to romance languages. Language proficiency in several languages is advantageous.

Career opportunities with a Master of Romance Languages

After completion of the one to two years study of Romance Languages you will be accredited with the title Master of Arts. These are some of the career paths you can choose:
