Master Applied Economic Sciences: Economic Policy: Admission requirements

Applicants should hold a university-level Bachelor's degree in Economics, Economic Policy, or equivalent. This degree should be academic, as opposed to a technical or professional degree. When starting the Master's programme, students should provide evidence of an intermediate competence in microeconomics and macroeconomics and proof of a background in introductory econometrics.

Since the programme is taught in English, candidates with a prior degree issued outside Belgium, the Netherlands or Luxembourg are required to demonstrate their proficiency in English. They can do so in two ways:

  • Either by submitting a language certificate showing their TOEFL, IELTS or ITACE results (the level required can be checked on: www.uantwerpen.be/admission).
  • Or by submitting proof that your prior university degree was taught in English, provided that the transcripts confirm that the entire study was completed in English.

Please note that the Board of Admission may still ask for additional proof of proficiency in English.

A GMAT or GRE is not required but can be requested in case of doubt. The Board of Admission might invite you for an online interview to receive insight into your academic background and profile.
