The Master of Science in Business Administration with Major in Tourism comprises four main module categories: modules in the Major Tourism, in general management, in research methods, as well as research projects. In addition to content, the focus is on developing of personal and social skills, especially strategic, decision-making and project management skills.

Module groups
In the module category International Tourism Management you will learn about and analyse tourism in an international context. In particular, networks and part-nerships have become important strategic elements for corporate success in the global tourism industry. As future tourism managers, you also need to be aware of the various strategies employed by political institutions to support tourism development.
Consists of the following modules: Strategy in Practice: contemporary case studies in Tourism, Future challenges and change in Tourism, Systemic Management in the Mobility Sector, Finance and Investment: tourism infrastructure.
The module category Strategic Innovation Management focuses on the dynamic nature of tourism. New consumer trends and new relationships between consumers and producers require certain innovative changes and adaptations. You will learn how to develop innovative products and business models, how to unlock new markets and how to refine business processes.
Consists of the following modules: Managing Innovations in Tourism, Intercultural awareness and socio-economic change in Tourism.
The module category Tourism, Nature and Society focuses on the sustainable management of tourism. As future tourism managers, you will learn to analyse local contexts, to be mindful of changes in social attitudes, norms and behaviours of tourists and locals and to improve the sustainable track record of tourism businesses
Consists of the following modules: Sustainable Tourism Management, Intercultural awareness and socio-economic change in Tourism, Risk and Crisis Management in Tourism.
Structure and Format
The duration of the master’s degree programme is 1.5 years (3 semesters) full-time study or up to 4 years (8 semesters) part-time study. Each semester comprises 14 weeks of classes and 3 exam weeks.
The curriculum is structured into separate modules that may occur as weekly lessons or in a block of lessons (usually only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings). The latter allows for the involvement of guest lecturers and the inclusion of study trips.
The degree programme is taught entirely in English.

The tourism industry is subject to a pronounced dynamics of change, which requires strategic thinking and the utmost professionalism at all levels. Required are graduates who not only have profound knowledge in their respective fields, but who understand tourism in an international context and are able to devise appropriate strategies for the future.
The Major Tourism provides this expertise and thus prepares graduates for the tourism labour market, either as responsible employees at middle management level in larger tourism businesses or as consultants. As a graduate of the Major Tourism, you will also have the necessary strategic knowledge in tourism to assess the potential of tourism, for example in destination management or regional development, and to be able to harness its impacts.

Do you have one of the following diplomas?
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma in tourism or other related subject from a university or university of applied sciences
Do you have a good knowledge of English and fulfil one of the following conditions?
Basic knowledge of business administration is required. Should you not have prior knowledge of business administration at bachelor level, you will be able to make up for this prior to the start of the programme. We will provide all the literature you will need for your preparation.

There is a one-off enrolment fee of CHF 300, which is deducted from the tuition fee for the first semester. If you do not take up the offer of a place on the programme, the enrolment fee will be forfeited.
The tuition fee per semester is CHF 960 for students who have been resident in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein for at least two years prior to the start of the programme.
The tuition fee for everyone else is CHF 1,550.
Students not from Switzerland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, the European Union or the European Free Trade Association are charged a deposit of CHF 2,700.
