The Postgraduate of Energy and Climate is innovative and unique in its approach:

  • The lectures focus on energy for the future: Energy efficiency and renewable energy are studied from the energy endues and services perspective.
  • The future is uncertain: Two lecturers, diverging in analysis and proposed solutions, will present their views on contentious policy issues.
  • The future is common: The course attracts a broad audience, from non-technical scholars to certified engineers, all eager to explore new perspectives and approaches for addressing energy and climate topics.

If you want energy policy, you must understand policy and energy.

The programme is designed to equip the participants with the competency to understand the state-of-the-art on energy and climate issues and the ongoing policies and regulations debate. The program aims to improve the understanding of concepts and systems and enhances knowledge regarding tools and technologies. This will enable innovative planning and action from a new perspective and approach. The program is designed in collaboration with lecturers of several scientific disciplines and the working environment. It is embedded in the interdisciplinary networking Institute of Environment & Sustainable Development at the University of Antwerp.

The postgraduate program is a part-time study of 30 ECTS credits. It consists of 5 mandatory course modules. Each course module can be followed separately. The postgraduate study can be combined with two additional courses.

Why this university?

Let our students tell you why!

Afroja Khanam (Bangladesh) - M.Sc. in  Governance and Development

“I get frequent chances to attend conferences, both in-country and abroad, which provides me with an opportunity to interact with scholars from many different fields from other institutions.”

Alexandra Evangeliou (Greece) - M.Sc. in Physics

“The laboratories are very modern and the programme also includes an internship, which I will start at the end of my two years here.”

Cyril France (Ghana) - M.Sc. in Development Evaluation and Management

“The study programme is well structured and followed by students from all over the world, which brings a lot of diversity in the classroom.”

Andrea Mariotti (Italy) - M.Sc. in Applied Economic Sciences: Business Administration

“I  also followed a language course at the university’s language centre Linguapolis and it was honestly one of the best language courses I ever attended.”

Blake Alexander Simmons (USA) - M.Sc. in Biology – Biodiversity: Conservation and Restoration

“This study programme can be considered as pretty international, since almost half of my fellow students are from abroad. I think it’s a great enrichment if you have so much different knowledge and many points of view around. This study experience will certainly make me a better biologist.”

Juliana Pinheiro Maia (Brazil) - M.Sc. in Applied Economic Sciences: Business Administration

“The cases we cover are international and not only considered from a European point of view. The teaching level is very high and the system itself is tough, since there is only one exam at the end of each term.”

Ossei Baffour Frimpong (Ghana) - M.Sc. in Governance and Development

“The lecturers are easily accessible and you usually get a fast response from them.”

Solange Ashu (Cameroon) - M.Sc. in Biology – Biodiversity: Conservation and Restoration

“I really like the practical aspect of my studies. Master students get a free pass to the Antwerp Zoo and there are frequent field trips for almost every course we are take.”

Liu Vera Liwei (China) - M.Sc. in Applied Economic Sciences: Business Administration

“The University of Antwerp meets all the requirements of a first class university. It is young and creative and offers the same as any other traditional university.”
